It is said that Huangling has the longest autumn in China, starting from the beginning of autumn and lasting until the end of December. The entire autumn unfolds like a richly colored scroll.

 

Autumn in Huangling is also a season of harvest. Chili peppers, corn, pumpkins, and more have already started to be harvested and dried. Later, crops such as chrysanthemums and persimmons will also join the drying team.

 


Busy Harvesting in Autumn Homes (Early August to Mid-December)

Starting from the beginning of autumn, the people of Huangling have never stopped drying crops. One batch follows another, and the crops keep changing. It continues until persimmons and chrysanthemums completely occupy the rooftops of the Shaiqiu homestead.

 


Harvesting Golden Rice in the Fields (Mid-September to Mid-October)

The rice stalks mature, and the rural areas of Huangling are adorned with golden and green fields. The harvested grains fill the entire village.

The chrysanthemums on the hills bring a bright yellow to autumn. Each chrysanthemum blooms elegantly, exuding a strong floral fragrance into the air.


 


Hanging Red Lanterns on the Branches (Mid-October to Mid-January)

Persimmon trees in Huangling are full of fruit in August and September. By October, they slowly ripen, and when you look around, you’ll see round, bright red persimmons hanging from the branches, delighting the eyes.



Red Maples in the Ancient Village, Like a Painting (Early November to Early December)

In November, the “American Red Maple” trees in Huangling’s ancient village turn red first, dazzling with their vivid brilliance. In the mild autumn breeze, they emit the unique charm of the southern region.



The Red Maples Wujiao Trees known for their beauty, have also started turning red. By November, the ancient fragrance of maple trees fills the mountains, creating the most classic “autumn in the homes of those who dry crops and admire the red maples,” which is even more stunning.



Gingko Leaves Turning Yellow in the Garden (Mid-November to Early December)

By mid to late November, the leaves of gingko trees start to turn yellow. Golden leaves cover the branches, and with a gust of autumn wind, the yellow gingko leaves flutter down like a shower, becoming a major autumn attraction.

 


Colorful Autumn Leaves, Fragrant Maple Trees (Mid-November to Mid-December)

Huangling’s thousand-year-old fragrant maple trees are the shyest, always appearing the latest in autumn. When the mountains are covered in red leaves in November, it is the most stunning autumn scenery.
